The editorial bar

Choose the exact sentence, compact passage, video moment or podcast exchange that stopped you. It should carry a useful idea, sharp observation, memorable turn of phrase or meaningful moment on its own. Generic advice, context-free slogans and automated filler rarely meet the bar.

Length and formats

The submitted text must be 20 to 500 characters. Reading, video and podcast submissions are equally welcome. For video or podcasts, add the precise timestamp when you can so readers can reach the moment quickly. Do not paste a full article, chapter, newsletter, transcript or long sequence of a work.

Credit accurately

Name the original author, speaker or creator and the source title. Link to a public original source. An author link is optional. Submitter names and links are optional. Public source, author and submitter links remain ordinary followed links, so promotion and attribution receive closer review.

Self-submission is welcome when the selected extract genuinely stands on its own. Check the self-authored field and use honest attribution. Do not impersonate a reader, creator or organisation, and do not conceal a material connection to the source.

Scheduling and duplicates

You may request today or a date up to 30 days ahead. A preferred date is not guaranteed. Similar passages are checked across roughly 30 days on both sides of the requested date, and editorial imports also receive an all-time duplicate check. A possible duplicate may be held for human review.

What will be rejected or held

• AI slop, generic advice or material that does not offer a meaningful extract.
• Misleading author, speaker, source or submitter attribution.
• Copied full articles, chapters, transcripts or excessive extracts.
• Unsafe, deceptive, private-network, malware, phishing or unlawful links.
• Spam, repetitive promotion, impersonation or hidden self-promotion.
• Material that cannot be checked at the linked source when verification is needed.
• Vote manipulation or attempts to bypass security and moderation.

Transparent editorial entries

When community submissions do not fill an edition, Hiighlights may add reviewed editorial seeds. These entries use an honest label such as Curated by Marco or Curated by Anonymous. They are not fake users and do not receive fabricated votes.

Review and removal

Every submission receives deterministic checks and, when configured, model-assisted moderation. It may be approved, held for Marco, rejected, edited for accurate attribution, hidden or removed. Model failure or uncertainty does not silently approve an entry. Credible copyright, safety, attribution and voting-integrity reports can trigger another review.
